Just like those year-end music recaps we all love, we’re taking a look back at everything that made 2025 special for us at iCOR.
New Additions to the iCOR Team
Harriet and Ahmed came on board in October last year and hit the ground running. They’ve been busy working on iCOR behind the scenes. If you’ve had a meeting with us lately, you may have already met them!
This Year’s Launch
We expanded what we can do for you with a brand new Health and Safety Module. Just like our environmental offering, our H&S module provides effortless step-by-step guidance through bespoke legal audits – no more overwhelming processes or information overload.
Using simple, everyday language, iCOR saves you from translating confusing legal jargon. All your results turn into actions and can be viewed in straightforward dashboards, making it easy for you, ISO auditors and regulators alike to check your compliance status quickly. You save hours of time and mountains of effort.

Our Year in Legislation
Hundreds of pieces of legislation reviewed – Our team stayed on top of the ever-changing regulatory landscape, reviewing and analysing hundreds of pieces of legislation to keep our clients up-to-date, informed, and compliant.
#1 Most Reviewed: Environmental – Packaging
Packaging regulations kept us busy, with evolving requirements and new standards emerging throughout the year. Major pieces of packaging legislation this year included:
- Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) – The phased rollout continued with data reporting obligations and modulated fees based on recyclability.
- Plastic Packaging Tax – The rate increased to £223.69 per tonne from April 2025 for packaging with less than 30% recycled content, and a mass balance approach for chemically recycled plastic was introduced.
- Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) – Legislation came into force in January 2025 for a UK-wide scheme launching in October 2027, covering PET plastic, aluminium, and steel containers between 150ml and 3 litres.
#1 Most Reviewed: Health & Safety – Fire
Fire safety legislation kept us busy with significant developments, including:
- Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) (Amendment) Regulations 2025 – New safety requirements for furniture and furnishings came into effect
- The Building (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2025 – Updates to Scottish building standards affecting fire safety requirements
- The Construction Products (Amendment) Regulations 2025 – Draft regulations addressing construction product standards and fire safety
- The Building Safety Regulator (Establishment of New Body and Transfer of Functions etc.) Regulations 2026 – Draft regulations establishing the new Building Safety Regulator and transferring functions.
Our Year in Events
At least 50 events attended – From conferences to exhibitions to networking sessions, we showed up and showed out across the North East and beyond this year.
2 Award Recognitions – We are proud to have been recognised for our hard work and innovation in the risk management sector:
- IIRSM Awards 2025 – iCOR was a finalist for Most Impactful Risk Research Project.
- North East Chamber of Commerce’s 2025 Inspiring Women in Business Awards – Our co-founder, Tamma Carel, received Highly Commended recognition in the small business category.
4 NERFs attended – The North East Recycling Forum was a regular fixture in our 2025 calendar. We dove into topics from the UK Emissions Trading Scheme to biochar, WEEE circularity, waste legislation changes, and the textiles challenge. We made the most of every opportunity to learn and engage with thought-provoking discussions about the latest in waste and circularity.
2 EMN events attended – We participated in the Engineering and Manufacturing Network’s events, staying connected to the latest in North East engineering and manufacturing. One memorable highlight was the summer social in Durham on a boat – proving that sometimes the best insights come when you’re not in a meeting room!
Dozens of webinars and talks delivered and attended – We learned from others and also shared our expertise in sustainability and EHS legislation through webinars, reaching professionals internationally and locally.
